Privacy Policy

This policy covers overtimehourscalculator.com: what happens to the numbers you type into a calculator, what the site's analytics and hosting can see, and what would have to change here before anything else was added.

Effective August 7, 2026. This is the first version of this policy.

The short version

The rate, hours and clock times you enter are read and calculated by this site's own JavaScript on your own device, and none of this site's scripts send those values anywhere. Data is still collected in two other ways: Google Analytics, which measures how pages are used, and the request itself, which has to reach the hosting provider that serves these pages. That is not zero collection, and this page does not claim it is.

What you type into a calculator

All eight tools on this site are static pages. When you enter a pay rate, a number of hours, a multiplier, an overtime threshold or a pair of clock times, that value is read by JavaScript that has already been downloaded to your device, and the arithmetic runs there. The result appears on the page. None of this site's scripts send those values anywhere: there is no server-side calculation, no database and no account to attach a calculation to.

The site's own scripts also do not store your entries. They write no cookie, no localStorage entry and no saved history holding a rate or a timesheet. Every calculator ships with example figures already filled in, so a reload gives you a page built from those shipped defaults rather than from anything you typed — though your browser may separately restore form values on a reload or a back-navigation, which is the browser's behaviour and not something this site controls.

Three things are worth being precise about. First, "not sent by this site's scripts" is a statement about the code on these pages, not a guarantee about everything on the path: the values you type are visible to your own browser and to anything you have installed in it — extensions, form autofill, a managed device profile, a screenshot tool. Second, this is separate from Google Analytics, which is described below and which measures page usage rather than field contents. Third, if you email us about a result, the numbers in that email travel as an ordinary email and are handled by the mail providers on both ends; the contact page explains what should be left out of a bug report and how to describe a problem using substitute figures.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 on every page. It is here to answer questions about the site rather than about you: which calculators get used, which pages people arrive on, whether a page is broken on a particular browser, and whether an update made something worse.

Google Analytics collects what it collects by its own design, and this site does not receive more than it does. In broad terms that means the pages you view and when, the address that referred you, an approximate location derived from your IP address, and technical details of your device, browser, operating system and screen. It uses cookies or similar storage to recognise a returning browser across pages of a visit. Google, not this site, defines that behaviour, and it can change without this page changing.

What analytics does not receive

This site's calculator scripts contain no call to Google Analytics at all. There is no event on this site that sends a pay rate, an hours figure, a result or the contents of any input field; the only analytics code on a page is the standard page-view tag in the head. What is measured is that a page was viewed — not what was computed on it.

Google's own documents govern its side of this: the Google Privacy Policy, its notes on how Analytics safeguards data, and how Google uses data from sites that use its services. Data collected by Analytics is processed by Google and subject to Google's retention settings and controls; this policy does not invent a retention period for it.

If you would rather not be measured, the options are on your side of the connection: Google's browser opt-out add-on, a browser setting or extension that blocks analytics scripts, or a privacy-focused browser that blocks them by default. Every calculator on this site works normally with analytics blocked — the tools do not depend on it, and none of the site's pages check whether it loaded.

Hosting and the request itself

The site is served as static files by a hosting provider, reached through its content delivery and security layers. Asking for a page means sending a request to those systems, and a request necessarily carries your IP address, the URL you asked for, your browser's user-agent string and, usually, the page that referred you. That much is a property of how the web works, and it is true before any script on this site runs.

What the provider then does with those requests — whether it writes them to a log, for how long it keeps anything, and under which of its own policies — is the provider's operation, not this site's. This policy will not describe it, because this site is not in a position to verify it. If that matters to you, the provider's own privacy documentation is the authority, not this page.

What can be stated from this side: this site operates no server-side code of its own, so it runs no logging, analysis or profiling on top of what the provider does, and it does not join any request data to its Google Analytics data. Calculator inputs are not part of a request in the first place, because the calculators are never asked to send them.

Cookies and browser storage

This site sets no cookies of its own. Its scripts do not write to localStorage or sessionStorage, and there is no preference, session or identifier stored by the site itself.

The cookies you may see on this domain come from Google Analytics, described above. Blocking or deleting them affects only measurement. It does not disable any calculator, hide any content or change any result.

Advertising

This version of the site carries no advertising. There is no AdSense tag, no ad network script, no ad slot drawn on any page and no behavioural or retargeting pixel. Analytics is the only third-party script that loads.

That could change. This page describes the site as it is now, not a commitment about what a future version will do; if advertising is ever added, this section is rewritten to describe the arrangement that actually exists — what script loads, what it collects, and how consent is handled — and the effective date at the top changes with it. Treat any such rewrite, rather than this paragraph, as the accurate description of that arrangement.

Until then, take this section as it reads: no ads, no ad-related data collection.

Pages here link out to official sources — the Department of Labor, state labor offices, the IRS — and to Google's own policy pages in the section above. Following one of those links takes you onto a site with its own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover and cannot promise anything about. Read the policy of the site you land on.

This site does not embed content from other services. There are no third-party fonts, images, videos, maps, comment widgets or social buttons loading from another domain, so simply reading a page here does not make a request to anyone except the host and Google Analytics.

Data minimisation

The design rule for this site is that data that is never collected cannot be leaked, lost, subpoenaed or sold. Everything below follows from it.

  • Calculation happens locally. A server-side calculator would mean pay rates and hours travelling across the network and sitting in a log. Running the arithmetic in the browser removes that entirely.
  • No accounts. There is no sign-up, no email list, no saved timesheet and no synced history, so there is no store of user records to hold or protect.
  • No forms. The site has no contact form, no newsletter box and no survey. Contact is a plain email address; nothing reaches us through it unless you choose to write, and what you send is then an ordinary email rather than a record in this site.
  • One third-party script. Analytics is the only external code on the site, and no calculator depends on it.
  • Nothing is sold or shared for marketing. This site does not sell personal information, does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and has no data-broker relationship. There is no user database to sell.

The practical consequence is that requests to export or delete "your data" have very little to act on here: the site keeps no account, no profile and no record of what you calculated. What does exist is analytics data held by Google, whatever the hosting provider retains from serving requests, and any email you have sent us. Those sit with Google, with the provider and in a mailbox respectively, under their controls rather than an account on this site. If you want a question about your visit looked into, write to us and describe it — though with no record of your visit on this side, there is generally little to match a request against beyond what you tell us yourself.

Children

These are workplace pay and timesheet tools, aimed at adults and not directed at children. The site does not knowingly collect personal information from children. It has no sign-up, no contact form and no upload, so the only way anyone of any age can send personal information here is by emailing the support address — and there is no reason to put a child's personal details in such a message.

Changes to this policy

If the site changes in a way that affects this policy — a new third-party script, a change to analytics, the introduction of advertising — this page is updated and the effective date at the top changes with it. There is no promised review schedule; a date that moves when something actually changed is more informative than one that moves on a calendar.

The date at the top identifies this policy version. Third-party services can change their own practices separately; their linked policies are the current source for those services.

Questions

Privacy questions, and anything on this page that reads as unclear or looks wrong, go to [email protected]. If your question is about a specific page, name it, and please keep pay stubs, tax documents and personal identifiers out of the message — the contact page explains why and what to send instead.

The terms of use cover the other side of using the site: what the estimates are, and why nothing here is legal, tax or payroll advice. The about page describes how the calculators themselves are built.
